ABOUT

British coloratura soprano singer Katherine Williamson trained at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and completed musical theatre training at The Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts.

During her studies Katherine was awarded the Drapers' de Turkheim Scholarship and was selected to participate in the mentor scheme at The Royal Opera House in partnership with Trinity Laban.  She was also the recipient of The Drapers' de Turckheim Vocal Scholarship (The Drapers' Company), The Douglas Memorial Prize for Opera, The Donald Webster Prize (awarded by Leeds Rotary) and The Nicholas Mowatt Prize for Singing.

Most recent and future engagements include Souer Constance in Dialogues des Carmelites, Nora in Riders to the Sea and Oscar (Cover) in Un Ballo in Maschera for Midsummer Opera, Grisette in The Merry Widow for Ryedale Festival Opera, 1st Spirit in The Magic Flute for Mid Wales Opera, Nannetta in Falstaff for Lambeth Orchestra, 1st Spirit and Queen of the Night (1st Cover) in The Magic Flute for Young Opera Venture, Zerlina in Don Giovanni for Hand Made Opera for performances in Italy, Woodpecker, Frog and Cockerel in The Cunning Little Vixen for The Zezere Arts Festival in Portugal.

Concert and Oratorio appearances include the world premiere of Karl Jenkin's Tlep in Astana, Kazakhstan in the presence of the President of Kazakhstan, Vivaldi's Ostra Picta and Gloria for Corsely Festival Choir, Handel's Dixit Dominus for the Zezere Arts Festival in Portugal as well singing for numerous other corporate and private events.  Katherine has also performed at The Royal Albert Hall for Gladiator (film) LIVE with orchestra, at Easter at King's in collaboration with King's College Cambridge for BBC Radio 3, with the BBC Concert Orchestra at Maida Vale Studios for BBC Radio 3 and she has also performed several times at the Palau de la musica in Valencia, Spain.  

Alongside her work as a professional opera singer, Katherine is availble to perform at opera galas, weddings, funerals and memorials and private and corporate events.  Please see the events page for more information.

In addition to her singing, Katherine enjoys writing a blog all about singing, she teaches singing to people of all ages at her studio and she is creating an online singing course to help others find their voice.  Katherine is also a professional voiceover artist for books, commericals and other projects.
